I was on my trip when I heard about the news that a man was pushing from the platform to the running train. The man was pushed by an 18-year-old boy who has no relationship at all. *sigh* It’s another social problem in Japan, beside the one I wrote last time about the suicide.
When I told mom about the news, I was then strongly suggested not to stay in the front line while waiting for the densha/train. Yeah, I think I should be aware and be cautious of such kind of thing as well. I am accustomed to be in the front line, as if I reflect on how I stood up so closed to the railway esp in Ginza line on the last daycoach(gerbong in Indonesian), it turns me scary now.. Ah, hope there’ll be more prevention on such kind of social problem in the future, dunno how, or at least equipped all platforms with the gates and guardrails, in order to prevent people from getting close to the train before the gates open??
Here’s the piece of the news :
An 18-year-old man under detention has told investigators that he decided to kill someone by pushing them in front of an oncoming train one hour before actually doing so at JR Okayama Station in the city of Okayama late last Tuesday, police said Monday. The victim, Kuniaki Kariya, a 38-year-old Okayama prefectural government employee, was pushed off a platform at the station at around 11:05 p.m. last Tuesday and died after being hit by a train.
The youth, whose identity is being withheld because he is a minor, was quoted as saying that he made the decision to kill someone while eating a hot dog at around 10 p.m. Tuesday. The teenager, who was from the city of Daito in suburban Osaka, also told investigators, ‘‘I wanted to go to prison because I wanted to leave my home.’’ Police searched the teenager’s home in Daito on Saturday and seized a total of 102 items, including a mobile phone and 58 comic books, novels and study guides, as evidence, the police said.
The sources quoted the youth as saying he left his home at around 9:30 a.m. last Tuesday carrying a knife and books, took a train to Osaka Station and played arcade games and read comic books in Osaka and Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, through around 5 p.m.
He then took a train at Aboshi Station of the JR Sanyo Line in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, and reached Okayama Station at around 9 p.m.
After buying a hot dog at a convenience store several kilometers west of Okayama Station, the suspect again entered the station and allegedly pushed Kariya off the platform at around 11:05 p.m., the sources said.
